Measurement Considerations
"12 units" is the most repeated number in every comment section on this subject, and on its own it carries no information at all. Here's why, and what to do instead.

01A unit count is not an amount of anything
When someone says they use 12 units, they have told you a volume on a 100-unit syringe scale, where 1 mL is 100 units. That's it. Units measure liquid.
The peptide is dissolved in that liquid at whatever concentration the person who mixed the vial happened to choose — and they almost never say what that was. Same vial, same 12 units, two ordinary mixes:
A 4× difference in mass, from the identical instruction, on the identical vial. No amount of confidence in the reply fixes that, because the missing information was never in the reply to begin with.
02"Always use 2 mL" is not a rule
Diluent volume is a choice about concentration. It is not a property of the compound, there is no standard value, and anyone stating one as fact is describing their own vial and mistaking it for a law of nature.
Pick a volume that makes your arithmetic clean, then write it on the label. The reason to prefer round numbers is legibility, not correctness — a vial at 10 mg/mL is easier to read off a syringe than one at 3.33 mg/mL, and that's the whole advantage.
03Numbers don't travel between compounds
Different compounds come at different vial strengths, and identical volumes therefore produce different concentrations. A unit count that meant something specific for one vial is noise when applied to another.
Two things have to match before any comparison is meaningful: the mass in the vial and the volume added. If either differs, the numbers aren't comparable — and if neither was stated, there's nothing to compare.
04Most handling folklore costs you material
Shake it to dissolve faster. Warm it up to help it along. Freeze and thaw the reconstituted vial as often as you like. Each of these is repeated constantly, and each one degrades peptide.

05The person replying cannot see your vial
They don't know your compound, your vial strength, the volume you added, how it's been stored, or whether the contents match the label. They have one number and a lot of certainty, and the certainty is doing all the work.
06What to do instead
- Use the two numbers you already have. The mass in the vial and the volume you added fix your concentration. From there the conversion is arithmetic — do it yourself, or let the calculator do it.
- Confirm what's actually in the vial. The COA for your specific lot is the only document that speaks to your material. How to read one.
- Write the concentration on the vial. An unlabeled vial can't be measured from, because you no longer know what a unit of it contains.
- Don't import numbers from a comment thread. They're not so much wrong as meaningless without the context nobody ever posts.
